Diagnosis or cause of accident
A miner named Andrew Polson working at the Patch had his leg broken by a fall of earth in the stopes last week. He died on Monday last, death being mostly due to shock. An inquest was held at which a verdict of accidental death was returned. No blame being attached to anyone. Polson was 50 years of age, and we learn he leaves a widow in New Zealand, whom he had great hopes of rejoining shortly. The cause of death was rather singular as the deceased only had a slight abrasion to the scalp and a broken leg. It is thought an inrush of blood to the brain caused death.
