Charles Augustus REID was the son of Frederick Charles Jackson REID who was killed 10 months earlier at the same mine. The story is here: A Father and Son – family story The death certificate states 18th Dec 1908 at Mt Sir Samuel, Charles Augustus Reid "Fitters Apprentice" male 18 Yrs, died of Result of Impact, Paralysis of the respiratory aorta, following injuries to the brain. Thomas Slingo (Uncle) miner Mt Sir Samuel informant. Buried 20th Dec 1908 Mt Sir Samuel Cemetery. (Thomas Slingo was actually the brother of Reid's aunt, thus not formally an uncle).
