Diagnosis or cause of accident
Six men were engaged on the lease moving a heavy block of timber with levers. The block weighed five tons, and was required for the engine bed. The men had got the block of timber on the rollers, with one side resting on one of the sheer legs, when the block slipped, and, catching the end of the lever held by John BYRNE, caused the lever to fly up and strike Byrne on the chest. He was dead in less than ten minutes.
