MINER'S MISHAP UNFORTUNATE OCCURRENCE

A serious accident happened on Thursday week at Ora Banda, whereby a miner named John Terrill, formerly of Trafalgar, met with injuries which will disable him for life, if he survives, which at present is not certain. Turrell, who is a single man, 37 years of age, was employed underground at the Associated Northern, when he was struck by falling earth and pinioned. It was at once seen by his mate that he was seriously injured and on being raised to the surface was taken to the Ora Banda hospital. where it was found he had sustained serious injury to the spine which caused the paralysis of both legs.
An operation was subsequently performed. The unfortunate man who still lies in a critical state will, it is expected survive, but will almost certainly be a cripple for life.

1913 'ITEMS OF NEWS.', Kalgoorlie Miner, 13 August, p. 4.
The Late Mr. John Terrill — The death occurred on Friday morning of an old and esteemed goldfields resident in the person of Mr. John Terrill , the cause of death being a very painful accident, which befell him at the Victorious mine, Ora Banda, three weeks ago. Mr. Terrill arrived on these fields some 12 or 13 years ago, and the esteem in which he was held was shown by the large number which followed his remains, to their last resting place on Sunday afternoon. The funeral left the residence of deceased's cousin (Mr. B. Blewitt), Trafalgar, where a most impressive service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Shroeder.
The late Mr. Terrill was only 35 years of age, and his genial manner and large heartedness won him the respect of all with whom he came in contact. Messrs. Francis, Donald- son, Martin, Pollard, Weeks, and Sinclair were the pall bearers.

The Daily News, 2 October, 1913 p. 5. John Terrill late of Ora Banda, miner, to Benjamin Blewitt, £18 18s. 1d.
