AKA - WARDELL 1940 'PROSPECTOR'S DEATH.', The West Australian, 6 November, p. 13. PROSPECTOR'S DEATH. - COMPLAINED OF SMOKE IN SHAFT Seizure While in Shaft. KALGOORLIE, Nov. 5.--Thomas Wardell (60), married, prospector, of Mt. Monger, died in the Kalgoorlie District Hospital about 6 p.m. today. A post mortem examination will be held. With Patrick Murray, Wardell was working a prospecting show about two miles north of Creedon's station, Mt. Monger. While working in the shaft at 1.30 p.m., two hours after having fired out, Wardell complained of the smoke and asked to be pulled to the surface. He was suffering severe pains around the heart and when his condition became worse his mate communicated with Mr. Hugh Creedon at Mt. Monger. Mr. Creedon rang the Kalgoorlie police and a doctor, Mines Inspector L. C. Olive and Constable McCulloch visited Mt. Monger. Wardell was brought to the Kalgoorlie Hospital in the St. John, ambulance. 1940 'Advertising', Kalgoorlie Miner, 7 November, p. 4. WARDLE.— The friends of the late Thomas Wardle, late of Mt. Monger, dearly beloved father and father-in-law, respectively, of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wardle, and uncle of Mr. and Mrs. Clem Sampson, of Lakewood, are respectfully informed that his remains will be removed from Messrs. A. and J. Kyle's Private Mortuary Chapel, Cassidy street, Kalgoorlie, at 4 o'clock THIS DAY (Thursday) for interment in the Methodist portion of the Kalgoorlie Cemetery. A. and J.
