Other Information
The Croesus Gold Mine is now part of the western edge of the Superpit. The Croesus Proprietary was a London-based company that developed the mine from the late 1890's. The gold was found at depth in the calcschist, for a long time a rock thought to carry no gold on the Golden Mile. Gold was described as fine and frosting the matrix.
