Accident occurred on the 24 August 1955. Died from secondary haemorrhage of a previously ruptured spleen which was received when he fell from the platform of a calcine agitator. The handrail that he grabbed after tripping over some rope gave way and he fell 18ft onto a stack of timber - From the DMP Annual Report 1955
