Diagnosis or cause of accident
William was working with Henry Dupee, removing timber from the formerly abandoned mine. The job was about completed when the few remaining timbers left in the shaft dislodged and carried the timbers and rocks plus William and Henry to their deaths at the bottom of the mine shaft, some 180 ft below.
