An article in "The West Australian" dated March 20 1942 reads: MINER KILLED LEONORA, March 19
William Tait, a middle aged man, today died of injuries received when he was caught in the belting at the Sons of Gwalia mine yesterday afternoon. He was thrown 16 feet to the ground. He left a wife and a grown-up family of four daughters and two sons.
William was the son of John Aitken Tait and Alice Tait (nee Hosking) and was born in Donald, Victoria in 1880. He married Pearl Harriet Grange Howe in Kookynie (WA) in 1904. They had 6 children.
